Living better in the world
We are fortunate to be in contact and work with many local communities, through our raw plant material supply chains. These women and men share their energy and determination with us, so that together we contribute to better living in the world.
In return, we pledge to conserve their environment; this is the case for example with the ‘Acacia’ project in Burkina Faso
Despite being so robust, this tree is currently under threat, particularly from fire and overgrazing. But because of the interdependence of ecosystems, without acacias there would be no wood, no shea, no honey and no medicinal plants, all so important to the local social economy.
Expanscience Laboratories, with a tripartite partnership, help conserve this ecosystem, as well as protecting the traditions, skills and knowledge of this region. They also train women in tree nursery management to combat their economic dependence.
Conserving acacias is an environmental necessity, but it is also an opportunity to train local communities and contribute to their economic and social development.
