01.Pursuing a responsible and useful growth.
The year 2017 was key for Laboratoires Expanscience for several reasons. I am thinking in particular of our strong international development and the strengthening of our strategy as a responsible health player committed to a better world.
02.What if the Made in France was a strength?
The Made in France is booming. For Expanscience, this is not a passing fashion, but a historical choice. Since the company’s creation, Laboratoires Expanscience has developed French research and production in the Eure-et-Loir department, in France, proving that we can conquer international markets and still remain loyal to our values and homeland. A guarantee of quality and innovation, the Made in France that is part of Expanscience DNA is not only an undeniable competitive asset, it is a source of pride.
03.What if an implementation in local economies determined our international impact?
Because each market is unique, implementing a company in a local economy requires a specific approach. Since 1963, we have built our model for international expansion on this simple principle. Through our 16 subsidiaries and over 100 distributing countries, we support health professionals, osteoarthritis patients and future parents in a way that adapts to the local context on five continents, while offering our customers the same Made in France guarantee of safety, effectiveness and quality. In 2017, we opened two subsidiaries in Asia, a strategic continent for reaching our 2020 goal of generating 75% of turnover out of France. Let’s have a look at the 2017 highlights.
04.What if we could use the best of nature while protecting biodiversity and local populations?
The plant world is at the heart of our innovations and behind the development of our cosmetic active ingredients. Controlling the supply and transformation of plant raw materials is key to our strategy and our policy of corporate social responsibility. This is why we cautiously select our plants, being careful to preserve biodiversity while contributing to the economic development of those who help us, to bring benefits to the greatest number.
05.What if consumer confidence was based on more exemplary and transparent products?
Conscientious company offering products for vulnerable populations like babies and pregnant women, Laboratoires Expanscience and its brand Mustela have long implemented an approach to responsible and innovative product design for dermocosmetics. It is based on three pillars: naturalness, expertise and safety. But what is naturalness exactly? Explanations with Caroline Baudouin, Director of Innovation, Research and Development.
06.What if everything started with skin?
Essential to our good health, skin is much more than an envelope to protect us from external aggressions. As a vector of emotion and exchange, this sensorial organ is the largest of our body and enables us to touch and feel the world. For nearly seventy years, Laboratoires Expanscience has deployed cutting-edge research programs to unravel its mysteries. Acne-prone skin, skin of expectant and new mothers or baby skin alike, Expanscience is committed to preserving this precious capital at all ages, by proposing safe and effective products adapted to the needs of each type of skin and sources of well-being.
07.What if we were closer?
Today, consumers expect much more than high-quality products. True to its commitments, Mustela establishes a close relationship with its community. Confidence gives impetus to this dynamic of exchange and openness. Everywhere the brand is found, there are flourishing initiatives that aim to get closer to consumers and offer them services and advice. This concrete support responds to their increasing need for information and transparency.
08.What if each step counted to live better tomorrow?
For nearly fifteen years, we have been working to develop our activities ever more responsibly. In 2016, the Better Living Program reinforced our commitments in terms of social responsibility. In 2018, this policy was awarded B Corp international certification. Our goal is to contribute to better living in all of our communities worldwide. How? By innovating in a responsible and collaborative way and in moving forward with our communities. From the environmental impact of our activities to maintaining a dialog with our shareholders, from the well-being of our employees to responsible purchasing, we are proud of our achievements in taking better care of our customers and their environment.
09.What if everyone could find their community?
Providing support for consumers and patients is one of the fundamental commitments that Expanscience has made to improve their day to day life. The company supports, listens, provides information and creates bonds between its brands and customers, as well as with stakeholders. Worldwide, Expanscience looks for ways to contribute to the creation of communities. Whether through online service or events, Expanscience builds and leads these communities by putting its expertise at their service and maintaining close ties.
10.What if a better quality of life reinforced mobility?
Chronic osteoarticular diseases like osteoarthritis affect the ability to move and impact the daily activities of those who suffer from it. Convinced that preserving movement requires a global treatment, Laboratoires Expanscience has decided to provide patients with solutions that improve their everyday life as a complement to their pharmacological treatments. What exactly does quality of life cover when we speak of osteoarticular diseases? Prof. François Rannou, a rheumatologist and functional therapist at Cochin Hospital in Paris, France, tells us more about the essential notion of “supporting patients”.
11.What if we could go further together?
Offer more useful and virtuous products, move skin and osteoarthritis research forward, develop pharmaceutical industry territories and competitiveness, generate sustained profit with our activities… Here are some of the challenges we take up in order to contribute to a better living in our communities! We are supported by a rich and dynamic ecosystem of stakeholders with whom we collaborate daily and carry on a dialog that enables us to respond together to society's expectations.
12. What if our employees were company players?
Our employees are the heart of Expanscience, today and tomorrow! Through co-building workshops, programs based on participating in innovation and social solidarity actions, we invite them to be the force behind our major projects, better quality of life in the company and products and services that will provide an appropriate response to society’s needs. They are key to skill development, solidarity and diversity at Expanscience. Making our employees players in their company means encouraging them to speak up and have an impact on the future of Expanscience because we are convinced that individual potential is behind group success.
13.What if children and their parents lived better throughout the world?
Since 1982, the Mustela Foundation has encouraged research and the implementation of projects on child development and parenting in France and abroad through university scholarships, support for field projects, partnerships with associations and prevention programs. Backed by the expertise of scientific committees composed of early childhood professionals, the foundation encourages those who, through their actions and work, are real players in helping millions of parents and children live better.
