Our approach
Our vision
« A company’s responsibility goes beyond its industrial responsibility, and its commitment is not limited to its brands »
Expanscience’s commitment to sustainable development is based on a conscious decision. We are not a listed company. But when we talk about health and well-being, especially for vulnerable target populations like pregnant women, young children and the elderly, this pro-active approach is supported by hard evidence. Moreover, this approach has already been in place for quite some time because it began in 2004 when we joined the United Nations Global Compact.
Significant progress
Since 2007, we have set up a dedicated organizational structure and developed an internal action plan in which our staff play a role. Our first practical efforts are underway. Progress is already evident in several areas, including a reduction in energy consumption following our 2009 Bilan Carbone® (carbon footprint assessment); the sustainable procurement of ingredients, with the establishment of supply chains protective of biodiversity and local populations; and responsible communications (we are a signatory of the Charte de l’Union des Annonceurs, a set of guidelines developed by the French Advertisers Union). This progress will continue based on the commitments that we set for 2015.
A virtuous circle
These commitments involve anticipating risks related to our business sectors and meeting the expectations of our stakeholders, including consumers, patients, customers, NGOs, trade unions and local authorities. They also play a role in mobilizing employees and differentiating Expanscience from other companies.
Our CSR programme creates genuine value for us and our customers. In our view, sustainable development is clearly a worldwide challenge and a true cornerstone of Laboratoires Expanscience’s global success in line with its continuing improvement approach.
Jean-Paul Berthomé, President of Laboratoires Expanscience
