Innovation and Research

• Rational, safe extraction of active plant ingredients: this approach using sustainable plant supplies is based on specific technologies, notably molecular distillation and enzyme engineering. Using molecular distillation, a “green” process for separation and concentration of the noble elements of oils, Laboratoires Expanscience has become the leading global producer of avocado and soya unsaponifiables. The use of enzyme engineering, an alternative method to the use of chemicals, also allows a more environmentally friendly approach for the development of peptides and sugars.

• Knowledge of connective tissue development and remodeling mechanisms: cartilage, gums and skin are compounds of these supporting tissues, which therefore play a key role in rheumatology, odontology and dermatology.

• Research into the skin’s barrier function: this essential function of protection against environmental aggression and dehydration is very often impaired in the case of dermatological problems.

• Analysis of inflammatory phenomena and immunity impairments, which are the cause or the consequence of many skin diseases.

Expanscience’s research is enhanced by numerous cooperative ventures with renowned and expert teams.
These partnerships contribute to the quality of its work and to its presence within the scientific community. The Laboratoires Expanscience R&D Center therefore works with plant biotechnology companies, enabling it to benefit from cutting-edge techniques, notably for production and evaluation of its active principles.  In parallel, it establishes cooperative research programs with institutions (INSERM, CNRS, hospitals, universities, etc.) in France and abroad, on subjects such as atopical dermatitis, acne, the inflammatory phase of arthritis, infections in periodontal disease, etc.

To enhance the value of its level of research in relation to its customers and the scientific community, Laboratoires Expanscience is increasing its scientific communications initiatives. Its experts take part in many international conferences, mainly in dermatology,
rheumatology and odontology. These events provide the opportunity to present the results of its research to the scientific community.
